Uninstalling an application

Uninstalling applications revokes the application license (returning it to the pool of available licenses), thereby disabling the application (stopping the agent's running code). Additionally, a selectable option removes agents that were only used by the uninstalled application from the device (if compatible). All utility roles have permissions to perform this task.

  1. On a Devices / Device Group page (displays details of one device group), click the Device List tab.

Tip:  The Device List tab can also be found on an Applications / Application page (displays details of one application).

Tip:  The information on this page automatically refreshes every 24 hours. To manually retrieve the newest information about the application, click Refresh.

  2. To uninstall an application on all devices in the group, from the dropdown menu, select Uninstall Application and click Perform Action.

    or

To uninstall an application on a single device, click the icon in the row and select Uninstall Application.

  3. (Optional) To also remove agents used by the uninstalled application from the devices, enable the Remove Agents toggle. The default is disabled (to not remove agents).

After the application uninstall is complete, any agents that are not used by any other applications on the device get removed.

Important!  Agent removal only works on Gen™X devices with ApplicationServices (AppServ) version 1.9.410.0 or higher. For all other devices, attempting to remove an agent has no effect.

Tip:  Because agent removal is part of the application uninstall process, an application license using the agent must be installed to remove the agent. To remove an agent that does not currently have an installed application using it, first install the appropriate application license, then perform this procedure with this toggle enabled. For more information, see Installing an application but delaying start.

  4. Click Uninstall.

The uninstall process begins, a notification displays a link to the uninstall job, and the status column displays progress.
