Requesting application licenses

Typically, Itron pre-grants application licenses to utilities during the DI platform deployment. However, after a new application is published to the Application Catalog and made visible to your utility, you can request licenses for it. All utility roles have permissions to perform this task.

  1. On an Application Catalog / Application page (displays a single application), click Request Licenses.

    or

On an Applications (displays details of all utility applications) or Applications / Application page (displays details of a single application), click the Licensing tab and then click Request Licenses.

The Request Licenses dialog appears. Some fields in this dialog are pre-populated based on the application selected, your utility information, and your user information.

Tip:  Do not enter information in Name. This field automatically updates as you complete other entries on the Request Licenses dialog.

  2. If necessary, select an application from the Application dropdown menu.

  3. Select the type of license from the License Type dropdown menu.

    • Trial. A trial license is valid for a maximum (and default) period of 90 days starting from the day the license is requested.

    • Production. A production license is valid for a default period of 365 days, starting from the day the license is requested.

Tip:  The Licenses Issued, Licenses Used, and Licenses Available fields list the number of licenses for the selected application that have been issued, are currently in use, and are currently unused, respectively.

  4. Enter the number of licenses being requested in Licenses Needed.

  5. Select the start date for the license term with the Start Date. The default is the date you submit the request.

  6. Select the end date for the license term with the End Date. The default for a production license is 365 days from the request date. The default for a trial license is 90 days from the request date. In the case of special term agreements, the Itron account team adjusts the term. For example, a utility may request that all licenses across all applications expire at the same time.

  7. Enter the contact name for the request in Contact Name. The default is your name.

  8. Enter the contact email address for the request in Contact Email. The default is your email address.

  9. (Optional). Enter the contact phone number in Phone Number.

  10. Click Request Licenses.

An Itron representative works with the listed contact to approve the license request. You can view the status of license requests on the Applications page's (displays details of all utility applications) Requested Applications tab.
