Standard Filters

The Standard Filters view shows all standard list filters that are currently defined in your FDM system. If you are a system administrator or system user with Modify Standard Filters permission, you can use this view to:

  • Create standard list filters for applicable FDM lists.
  • Delete standard list filters.
  • Modify a standard list filter’s properties.
  • Export to a comma-separated value (CSV) file a filter package containing all standard filters that are currently defined in your FDM system and the related language information (for more information, see Exporting FDM Lists to CSV Files).
  • Import into your FDM system CSV-formatted standard filter packages containing standard list filters for one or more FDM lists and the related language information (for more information, see Importing FDM List Items from CSV, XML, TXT, and BMR Files).

If there is more than one standard filter for a filter type, one of them must be designated as the default for that filter type. Whenever you view a list for which a default filter has been specified, FDM automatically applies that filter. If no user selects a default filter for a particular user type, FDM designates the filter whose name comes first in alphabetical order as the default. There can be only one default filter for each filter type.

In the standard filters list, each filter’s default status is indicated by its Is Default? setting, as follows:

indicates a user-designated default filter.

indicates a system-designated default filter.

indicates that the filter is not a default.

For a list for which no standard filters have been imported or created, FDM designates a single default filter containing no filter criteria. It names this empty filter Default. Applying a list’s Default filter is equivalent to applying no filter.

The Standard Filters view features a standard FDM list filter editor that lets you filter the standard filters list by filter type. For a detailed explanation of FDM list filters and how to use them, see Filtering Lists.
