Validate Devices

This workflow is provided for customer acceptance testing of devices in batches up to 60. Select Validate Devices from the main menu.

To begin, select one or more devices for validation.

  1. In the System Title field, enter the ID of the first device.
  2. Click Add to list it below the System Title field.
  3. Continue adding IDs to the list for a total of up to 60 devices. Click Next.
  4. Select which operations to perform:

    • Validate Configuration
    • Test Service Switch Over Wi-Fi
    • Clear Billing (sealed Canadian meters do not support this operation)
    • Clear Tampers
    • Test Service Switch Over 900MHz
      • This option is visible only if you are logged into a Gen5 Riva meter over 900MHz with an FSU connected to the computer.
  5. In the Result Directory field, browse to locate the folder where you want the validation results to be saved.

  6. Click Next or Finish.

Tip:  To save time, click Export to create an XML file of the entire list. Click Import next time you need to perform workflows on the same set of devices.

A security and environment test is run on each device. The test compares a server setting of the subject DN and Network ID against what is loaded into the device. This ensures that the device has been configured for the proper environment.

The Validate Devices Results page appears and displays Success or Failure in the Result column for each device.

  • The View Results button allows you to see details for each device.

  • The Sign Up Credits and Encryption/Decryption Credits fields display the number of each type of credit remaining on your FSU.

    • One Sign Up credit is used each time to log into a device.

    • One Encryption/Decryption credit is used each time you perform an operation using 900MHz.

  • If any devices fail their validation test(s), the row is highlighted in red with the reason for the failure.

    • The Retry button allows you to run the test(s) again up to five times. The number in the Remaining Retry column decrements each time you retry the test.

    • If the fifth attempt fails, the Retry button disappears and you must take another action to resolve the issue.
